UBCS Career Day 2009

Career Day Students 1 On Tuesday, March 10th, UBCS hosted its 16th bi-annual Career Day. Seven other Christian schools, one from as far away as Mount Ariel, joined in for this event, giving us a total of almost 300 students. The purpose of this day is to give 11th and 12th grade students an opportunity to hear from over 45 Christian professionals regarding careers which might be of interest to them. Some of the workshops included were: medical fields, technology, advertising and marketing, law enforcement, secretarial, a variety of ministry related fields, engineering, forensics, business, architecture & design, construction, cosmetology, and the list goes on.

Career Day Students 2Two general sessions were conducted during the course of the day. One was given by Mr. Ruud Stolvoort on knowing God’s will and deciding on a college, and the other was given by Dr. Brian Priest on successful Christian living where ever God leads you.

While the UBCS junior high enjoyed a day off from school, the 10th grade class acted as hosts and hostesses, helping out wherever needed. A number of the 10th grade students even assisted volunteers, Elyse Shedal, Mary Lou Mortimer and Diane Clark, as they prepared and served a wonderful meal for all the speakers and administrators.

Career Day is a wonderful way to bring students together, other than in a competitive arena, from the various Christian schools, and help prepare them
as they contemplate their futures.
