Grandparents Day 2008
Whether five, eighty-five or some age in between, April 11 was an exciting day at Upper Bucks Christian School. One hundred and fifty grandparents came to school to see what happens on a day to day basis in Pre-K through 12th grades. What a blessing to see the excitement bursting from each child when they spotted their grandparent in the sea of faces, and what a privilege to see the love and support that each grandparent provided for their grandchild!
Under the direction of many staff and faculty members, UBCS was able to enjoy an hour long program presented by the students. The Pre-Kindergarten class recited Psalm 23 and sang "Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us." Nothing compares to seeing little children quote God's Word and sing His praise. The elementary students gave a special preview into their spring concert by singing two songs from "The Custard’s Last Stand." The kindergarten through second grade students sang about the recipe for a happy home; while the third through sixth graders sang about having family fun. The senior high students impressed the assembly by using their voices to sing a song originally composed for instuments. We all enjoyed their enthusiasm, especially the surprise finale. The brass ensemble played a lovely medley of hymns. All enjoyed hearing the variety of instruments and the beautiful blend of sounds. Allison Reeder and Heather DeMar sang a duet which was originally prepared for the KCEA Fine Arts Competition. What a blessing to hear these Jr. High young ladies lift their voices in honor to our great God. Mark McDavid preached God's Word with authority and conviction beyond his years. It will be exciting to see how God uses these students in the future to serve Him. The assembly was followed by lunch, grandparent photos and recess. Most grandparents concluded their day by attending classes with their grandchild. Looking back over the day, UBCS was honored to have our
grandparents here.
