Recapping the UBCS Basketball Season

Basketball Families

This year's basketball season at UBCS was no ordinary season! The home games were filled with excitement! UBCS had many special events taking place making it an entertaining, family-friendly atmosphere. Besides the annual pep rally, elementary games, junior cheerleading and hotshot night, UBCS also featured a Chick-fil-a night where sandwiches were sold and given away, stuffed cows were "sling-shot" into the crowd, free Chick-fil-a food such as sandwiches, fries and shakes were given out, even the cow mascot was present to help cheer for the teams! It was an eventful evening full of excitement! A huge "thanks" goes to Mr. Dave Heffernan who donated many of the items and helped make our Chick-fil-a night possible.

On January 25, our seniors and their parents were honored right before the Senior High games. UBCS had 9 seniors who participated in the athletic department. After the games, the parents had a special time of fellowship and food to thank them for their sacrifice over the years.
Recently, there was a special night dedicated to raising money for Gracie Connors. Gracie is a three-year-old girl at Bethel Baptist Church who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Her parents are UBCS alumni, Tim and Jen (Blood) Connors. That evening, the students and fans were able to raise $340 in just 3 hours to help with the needs of the Connors family. We would like to say a huge thank you to all those who participated in giving. The Connors greatly appreciated the blessing UBCS was able to be to their family*.

If you were not able to be a part of the games this season, you surely missed out. We are so proud of our teams this year. They have worked very hard to play their best and make us proud! As the season comes to a close, we would like to especially thank the coaches, Mr. Jared Roberts (Sr. High Boys), Nathanael Boykin (Sr. High Boys Assistant), Mrs. Dawn Roberts (Sr. High Girls), Mr. John Zwart (Jr. High Boys), Pastor Dan Steward (Jr. High Girls), Mrs. Krista Baun (Jr. High Girls Assistant), Mrs. Lisa Whitten (Sr. High Cheerleaders), and Mrs. Sharon Artman (Jr. High Cheerleaders) for all their hard work and for the time they put in to helping this season be such a success!

*Further donations can be given to the Tim Connors family through the school offices.
