Last Week of School

The end of the 2007-2008 school year is fast approaching. UBCS would like to highlight some important information pertaining to those last school days. As we did last year, we are concluding our school year with half-days on the final week of school, June 2-5. During that week, the elementary students will have an “extended” morning snack, but no lunch time. There will be no Elementary P.E. or Chapel. There will be A.M. Extended Care but no P.M. Extended Care.

The high school students will be having a lunch time. However, the junior class will not be providing hot lunches or concessions. The elementary shuttle buses on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (June 2-4) will depart from Liberty at 11:55 a.m. The high school will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. and all buses will depart from the Main Campus at 12:20 p.m. Our transportation department will be flexible that week and will work with you to get your child home. Please remember that all busing changes need to be approved by the transportation office (215-536-9200, ext. 115) and should be submitted a week ahead of time.

For the high school students, the 7th-11th grade semester exam dates are from May 28-June 2. More detailed information will be given to your child in the coming weeks. The Elementary annual "In-Class Awards" will be held on Tuesday, June 3.

Update on the Chick-Fil-A Fundraiser For Gracie Connors

On Saturday, March 22, the Oxford Valley Chick-Fil-A hosted a Spirit Day to benefit the Connors family. Gracie, a three-year-old who was recently diagnosed with cancer, is currently undergoing radiation treatments in Boston.. The school family was invited to support the Connors by visiting the Chick-Fil-A, where a portion of the day's sales went to the Connor's family. The Heffernan family (managers of the restaurant) are thrilled to announce that as of this moment, $6000.00 was raised. Many thanks to so many who supported this event and showed the outpouring of God's love in this way.

Make your yard beautiful this spring by supporting the sophomore class. They will be selling flowers for their spring fundraiser starting March 14 and ending April 25. Big "G" Boxtops

This year's “Big G Boxtop” drive ends on Monday, February 25. Please send in the boxtops you have been saving by that date and continue to save box tops for next year's drive.

Campbell's Reminder

Thank you for your continued contribution to the soup label UPC collections. Please keep in mind however, that they are no longer asking for the fronts of the labels. The company will accept ONLY the UPC from the back of the labels.

Liberty Elementary Security

New front doors have been installed at Liberty and our new security system will be implemented after the Easter break. Currently, the back doors facing the playground are locked except for the times that the students are using the playground. Beginning on Tuesday, March 25, all doors will be locked from 8:30a.m.-2:50 p.m. In order to enter the school building, visitors will need to come to the front doors, press a button and look into the security camera. Visitors will be admitted when the secretary unlocks the door upon recognition. Please notify the office if an individual other than the student's parent will be coming into the school. Because of the new security rules, it would be helpful if parents of morning kindergarten students would pick up their child at 11:30, 12:00 or 12:30.

Spring Sports

Boys baseball and girls soccer tryouts will officially begin on Monday, March 3 for 7th–12th grade students. Athletes must have a current Physical Exam form (completed within the last year) and an Athletic Emergency Card turned in by the first day of tryouts in order to participate. These forms are available in the school office or download them as pdf files.

UBCS Pictures Available

Christmas City Studios, our school photographer, is offering a new service to us. You can now go online to view and purchase candid shots taken at our school events and activities. Book It!

All elementary students are encouraged to keep reading for "Book It!" through March. A special award is given at the end of the school year to each student who makes his monthly reading goal of 300 minutes for each of the six months and has turned in his calendar on time each month. Reminder: March calendars are due Tuesday, April 1.

Booster Club Info

Since the school wants to keep tuition costs down as much as they can for my parents, the school developed a program called the Booster Club.  The Booster Club helps offset the operating costs of the school. During the UBCS Booster Club Campaign students are encouraged to reach out to potential UBCS Supporters. Attached is a sample letter that can provided a starting point for students correspondence. Spirit T-Shirts for Sale!

Spirit T-shirts are available for purchase from Mr. John Zwart. They are also available at all home games. The shirts are $6.00 each. If you don’t own one already, be sure to purchase one and become part of the “sea of red” and join the fan section to support our teams this season.

Extended Care

We would like to thank those that have been helping in extended care for the time and care that they give to the children. Parents, please remember that Extended Care closes at 5:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly and be sure to pick up your child before 5:30 p.m.

High School Tardies

Please note that all students will be serving detention after five unexcused tardies. Please encourage your students to be on time to school. Students arriving on a late bus will not be penalized.

Late Report Cards and Communication Envelopes

There has been a policy change for late report cards and communication envelopes. All envelopes that are not returned on time will incur a $10.00 penalty fee to cover the time and cost for reprinting the envelopes. This fee will be applied to the next school bill. The high school student will also receive demerits for the offense. Please note these changes.

School Visitation

Whenever it becomes necessary to visit either UBCS campus (to bring lunch, projects, to pick up a student for an appointment, etc.), please report directly to the school office. Under no circumstance should a class be interrupted. Office personnel will be sure to deliver items or to contact students at an appropriate time. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
